Janna AllenJanna has always been singing for as long as she can remember. The product of a musical family and the daughter of a minister, Janna's life has been centered around music ministry from the beginning. She is a native Oklahoman, but spent several years with her family in the retreat ministry in Crested Butte, Colorado. She met her husband, Dan Allen, while attending Oklahoma Baptist University. They married in 1990 and have made their home in Oklahoma City, Duncan, and now Tulsa. After teaching for 13 years in public schools, Janna is now a language arts teacher at Regent Preparatory School of Oklahoma where she teaches classical literature and writing skills to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. Her husband Dan is a Senior Vice-President for the Baptist Foundation of Oklahoma and Director of the Tulsa office. Dan and Janna have a son, Drew, who is 11 years old. He is into sports, sports, and more sports! He is also a humorous and outgoing boy who has many friends. Janna is very active in her church's music ministry and sings with the praise team as well as the sanctuary choir and ladies ensemble.
Some of Janna's favorite verses God has given her are Colossians 3:16-17 because she knows that she needs the word of God to dwell within her or whatever she attempts to do will be in vain. This verse speaks specifically to her and she is amazed at the tenderness of God to be so personal with her (us) in His word. Can you help but praise Him?!
"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him."
Kathleen grew up in Bakersfield, California and was also the product of a musical family. She moved to Texas in 1985 where she attended Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene. She is a transplanted Texan and proud to be one. Kathleen met her husband, Tracy, at HSU and earned her BBA in Marketing. For 15 years, Kathleen and Tracy were in the youth ministry and served in churches in Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Duncan, Oklahoma; and Amarillo, Texas. Her husband is currently the Missions/Recreation Pastor at Trinity Baptist Church in Amarillo where they live with their two daughters, Malorie (14) and Madison(11). Kathleen is a third grade teacher at a private school in Amarillo. Her girls are actively involved in music at school and at church, but are very busy playing soccer year-round. So Kathleen is a full-fledged, minivan-driving Soccer Mom!
Kathleen is active in her church's music ministry serving in Worship Choir, Praise Team, and One Heart Ensemble. She strives to live a life of worship as exemplified in Psalm 104:33-34- "I will sing to the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live. May my meditation be pleasing to him, as I rejoice in the Lord."
Her heart is overwhelmed at the privilege of knowing and loving Jesus, and rejoices in the knowledge that one day........"there (will be) a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb........crying out in a loud voice: 'Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.'" Revelation 7:9-10
